Good evening Toastmasters,

We had 18 people at our meeting tonight……what a wonderful breath of fresh air.  Those who were not assigned a role were busy evaluating others in their leadership roles.

Michael Lebeau brought his cousin, Philip Robert a former Toastmaster.  Blanche Pape, our area governor visited us as well.

Mark Crider was presented his Competent Leadership Award for completing all 10 projects of Leadership.

Nagi Patibandla gave his third speech on taking risks.  He understands the positives of risk taking.  Afterwards he shared a risk he is taking--- building a hotel.

Ed Paiva gave his 5th speech on the 1982 World Cup Competition.  Ed gave a very exciting speech.

Lupe gave Maureen some practice evaluating for the competition; she evaluated Lupe Roy, and even found some challenges for her, which is not an easy task.

Elvia Ledzema had some really great and challenging Table Topics questions.  Linda was stumped by a picture Elvia used, but she talked for 2 minutes on it.

Lupe Roy shared her experiences at the  Toastmaster’s International Conference in Canada.

We are looking forward to seeing some of you next week that haven’t been able to be with us for the summer.

Bring a friend next week; we have one more week and a day to compete in the Jack Rabbit Dash.

We had a great meeting tonight with 10 in attendance.  We missed Tammy and Steve, but were glad to hear from Ree that Steve was able to go home from the hospital today.  Our prayers are for Steve’s good health in the days and weeks to come and for Tammy to be at peace as she ministers to him.  Suz can relate similarly when her husband recently was hospitalized. We women can worry can’t we?

Anna Manning served the TMOE and the GE with competence and humor. Jason had a new word “Slake”, which was a challenge for most, but it was used by a few.  Maureen gave a speech, which could have been a Tall Tale, but she insisted that it really was true.  Joanne Palmer gave her 9th speech in the CC manual on Research and the Power of it.  Linda reviewed how our club was doing on our Speaking and Leadership roles and how it is possible for us to make all 10 goals this year, which will not only benefit the club, but all of us individually.

Then came Linda and her Table Topics on School Days.  She got some boners for the challenges she gave the TM in speaking about the educational controversies today.  The Table Topics questions involved two Toastmasters at a time.  The participants had to present the pros and cons of the issues we are facing today in our schools and universities.

Grant and Nagi gave the speakers excellent evaluations and challenges.  Jason didn’t think his jokes were funny enough, but we did laugh.

We look forward to NEXT WEEK.  Please note the THEME will be on the Newsworthy aspects of the Olympics.

See you then.

Linda

Dear Toastmasters,

We had a great TM meeting tonight.  Jason did a great job for his first time being a Toastmaster.  Mike Gibson had some challenging topic master questions that cause us to THINK on our FEET.

Mark gave a speech on “Little Red Riding Hood” and Suz on Mary Baker Eddy ….one on fantasy and another on real life.  The evaluations by Tammy and Anna contained Compliments, critiques and challenges.  We are really doing well giving our TM feedback on their speeches.

We had 6 guests tonight….most came by invitations from Suz. One however was my son, Bill, who was visiting with his family.  He compared our club with his TM club from Houston.

Our Area Governor, Blanche Pape, explained what happens at contests.  We actually were able to get some commitments to speak at our Club contest.  Thank you, Tammy, Joanne, and Mark for committing to being in our contest on September 16th.

Grant Mercier and Anna Manning had some really FUNNY jokes.

Next week, Tammy Palmer volunteered to be our Toastmaster, so Joanne Palmer can speak.  Joanne is two speeches from getting her CC award.

If you weren’t able to be with us this evening, we look forward to seeing you there next week on the 19th.
